Faro Freestyle 2 – new can do more
Faro presents the second generation of the Freestyle handheld scanner. What’s new in the second generation? There are several important improvements.
The first thing you can see is the completely different look compared to the previous version. The Freestyle 2 scanner has display which lets you view what you capture as you scan. The number of cables has been minimised, thanks to which the scanner has gained much more mobility. Unfortunately, the device is heavier than the precursor by 0.5kg and weighs almost 1.5kg. Despite this it can be successfully operated with one hand only.
What besides visual changes? The technology has also been improved. First of all, the range of the device has been significantly extended from 0.5m – 3.0m to 0.4 – 5.0m (even 10m if you agree on a lower quality scan). The accuracy of scanned points and the speed of obtaining them has been improved from 88,000 points / sec to 220 00 points / sec. Like its predecessor, the scanner provides a point cloud in natural colours.
The device can be used outdoors, although worse scans should be expected in direct sunlight. Under a cloudy sky, there should be no problems. Mobility, considerable range, high accuracy and ease of use give quite a wide range of possibilities to use the Faro Freestyle 2 scanner. Its advantages you will find especially in places with limited access.
